Teen Summer Reading Challenge

Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to participate in the Read Beyond the Beaten Path Summer Reading Challenge where teens can earn prizes by reading and completing a variety of activities.

What is the Teen Summer Reading Challenge?

The Teen Summer Reading Challenge is an eight-week program that encourages teens to read and/or complete activities. To register for the Teen Summer Reading Program:

  • Teens must be 12-18 years old

How to sign up and report my reading and activities for the Teen Summer Reading Program

How do I earn prizes?

  • Log 12 hours of a reading to earn a free book
  • Log and complete five activities for a chance to win a gaming keyboard and mouse set

Do I have to read just books or can I read other things?

  • Books, eBooks, comic books, manga, SAT Guides, newspapers, magazines, etc. 

Can I check out items from the library?

Where do I pick up my prizes?

  • Participants can pick up their prizes by calling the Reference Desk at (626) 307-1368.

DIY Back to School Book  Bags

July 15 at 3 p.m. in the Friends Room 

t’s almost time for back to school! Teens are invited to make a personalized book bag! Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.  

Junior Friends Meetings

July 14 & 28 at 4 p.m. in the Young Adult Area

The Junior Friends is a teen volunteer club with leadership opportunities in conjunction with the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library. To join, visit the the following website.
