How To Respond

The 2020 Census will ask a few simple questions about you and everyone who is or will be living with you on April 1, 2020.

For the first time, you can choose to complete the census online, by phone, or by mail. Find out more about each of these methods below:

Please note that if you are responding online, you must complete the census in one sitting, as you don’t have the ability to save your progress. See the questions the census asks here

If you did not receive an invitation to respond from the Census Bureau, you may respond online or visit the Census Contact Us page to call the phone line.

Complete your Census online and a Census taker will not have to come to your door. Please help to protect the health and safety of the community and Census workers by completing your form online, by phone or by mail

Your Privacy Is Protected

It’s against the law to publicly release your responses in any way that could identify you or your household. By law, your responses will be kept confidential and cannot be used against you and can only be used to produce statistical information.

It’s About Funding

Census data will determine how more than $675 billion are spent supporting your state, county and community’s vital programs for schools, roads, health care, and other programs. Your participation will help to assure a complete and accurate count for the Monterey Park community.

Your Civic Duty

Completing the census is mandatory and only occurs every ten years. Participate in our democracy and be counted!

Everyone Counts

The census counts every person living in the U.S. only once and in their current place.

How Can You Verify That Someone Is a Census Worker?

Census takers will visit some homes conduct quality check interviews or deliver paper questionnaires and to help collect responses.

If someone visits your home to collect information for the 2020 Census, check to make sure that they have a valid ID badge, with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date. Census workers may also carry Census Bureau bags and other equipment with the Census Bureau logo.

If you still have questions about their identity, you can contact your Regional Census Center to speak with a Census Bureau representative.
