The Housing Element represents the city's efforts to provide housing opportunities for all segments of the community. The Element identifies housing need in the city and sets forth the policies to guide future housing development consistent with policies in the General Plan.
Why We Need One
One of the primary housing goals for the state of California is to ensure every resident has a decent home and suitable living environment. For this reason, the state of California requires all cities and counties to prepare a Housing Element. Counties and cities must adopt a Housing Element to show they will contribute to the attainment of the state housing goal.
On December 17, 2012, the Draft Housing Element 2014-2021 was presented to the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) and is now available for public review.
