Armed Forces Day (May 15) and Memorial Day (May 31) are days when we honor America’s men and women in uniform who served their county in times of war and peace, past and present. Some have given the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy each day. To honor our heroes we encourage the community to display a flag at your home during the month of May. On May 31 at 12:00 p.m., we also ask that all members of the community participate in a National Moment of Remembrance and observe two minutes of silence as we honor of the service and sacrifice of members of the armed forces throughout the history of the United States. For more information, please contact Recreation and Community Services at firstname.lastname@example.org or 626-307-1388.
On September 11th, the City of Monterey Park hosts a ceremony in front of City Hall recognizing the National day of remembrance and mourning for all the who lost their lives and all that were affected by the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001. Each year on November 11 the City of Monterey Park hosts a ceremony honoring American veterans of all wars. We celebrate America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of the country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
