Monterey Park's Birthday Celebration (Canceled)
Show your community spirit and help celebrate Monterey Park’s birthday, even while Safer at Home
May 29 is Monterey Park’s 104th birthday and the city is calling on all residents, young and old, to help commemorate the occasion by coloring and displaying a birthday coloring sheet in a front window. While we usually celebrate MPK’s birthday with the annual “Happy Birthday Monterey Park Play Days” carnival and parade, the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic necessitates a little creativity.
The city wants to continue to commend its residents for abiding by the Safer at Home order and encourage the community to showcase their spirit by posting the coloring sheet in a front window of homes for community members to share and enjoy. This will also brighten the days of first responders and city staff like police officers, firefighters, public works staff and other essential workers as they continue to serve the community.
