2021 Fourth of July Fireworks Show Canceled

The Recreation and Community Services Department regrets that our annual July 4th event with fireworks and entertainment at Barnes Park has been canceled due to conditions and circumstances related to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. We wish you a happy and safe holiday and look forward to seeing you next year.

Reminders regarding fireworks in Monterey Park:

  • Fireworks are not allowed at any time in any park.
  • Only Safe and Sane fireworks are legal in Monterey Park, and only allowed on July 4 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Illegal fireworks use and sales can be reported to the MPPD non-emergency line at 626-573-1311.

Virtual Fourth Celebration

We invite the Monterey Park Community to participate in a 2021 virtual community-wide celebration by submitting photos to:

  • Show your patriotism. Decorate your home for July 4. Submit photos by July 6 of your patriotic display.
  • Recognize our active/veteran military. Submit a photo along with name, military branch and rank by June 18. To be recognized on July 4. Update: our military video has been completed and available for viewing on YouTube.
  • Email photos to: recreation@montereypark.ca.gov. Photos will be included in a slideshow on the city website and shared on social media.

Virtual Paint Night

Friday, July 2, 2021, 7-8:30 p.m.
Register by Tuesday, June 29. Zoom information will be emailed prior to the start of the class.     

Join your neighbors as you create a painting from the safety of your home. Live step by step guidance provided by a professional instructor via Zoom. No experience necessary. 

Each $45 kit includes:

  • Paint Canvas
  • Assorted Paint Colors
  • Assorted Brushes
  • Paint mixing palette
  • Contactless pick-up
