Elizabeth Yang has been a proud resident of Monterey Park for over 15 years along with her husband Phil and their two teenage children, Liliana & Alexander, who both grew up in this community. Elizabeth has been a dedicated volunteer in Monterey Park for over a decade and has served on four city commissions since 2013, including the Design Review Board, the Parks & Recreation Commission, the Community Participation Commission, and the Business Improvement District Advisory Council (BIDAC).
Elizabeth is a local businesswoman, licensed attorney and real estate broker, and serial entrepreneur, having founded multiple businesses in her career. She is currently the CEO and Founder of Yang Law Offices (YLO) and has been practicing law since 2007. Her team of attorneys specialize in Family Law, Business Law, Estate Planning and Intellectual Property Law and YLO has offices in Monterey Park, Downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena and Orange County. She also owns a remote talent company "Optinizers", which provides virtual assistant services from the Phillippines to companies and professionals in the U.S.
At the age of 19, Elizabeth earned her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley in two and a half years. During her 6 year engineering career, she worked at both Raytheon on the B2 Bomber radar system as well as at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) on the Mars Exploration Rover. While working at Raytheon, she attended the University of La Verne in the evenings and earned both her J.D. and M.B.A. degrees by the age of 24.
Elizabeth is a best-selling author and to date, has published a total of 6 books. In 2017, Elizabeth published her first best-selling book, “The Big Secret” alongside Jack Canfield, author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. In 2018, Elizabeth published her second book, “Stress-Free Divorce” to assist parties going through this very difficult time of their lives. Her most recent books include “The Authorities: Powerful Wisdom from Leaders in the Field,” “Women in the Modern Business World,” “Asian Women Who Bossup,” and “Social Marriage.”
Elizabeth has a passion for giving back to her community and her volunteerism and leadership across various non-profit organizations spans over 20 years. She has been active with the Monterey Park Women's Club, the Monterey Park Lion's Club, the Monterey Park Democratic Club, the Asian Youth Center, Asian Minds Matter, amongst other community organizations.
In her spare time, she enjoys salsa dancing, skiing, traveling and trying new restaurants.
